To be unanimously voted into a top eleven, you have to excel. Mohamed Salah is in outstanding form – and so the FC Liverpool attacker has been named in the ESM Eleven of the Month for October with the optimum number of votes.
One goal in a 2-2 draw with Manchester City. One goal in a 5-0 win at Watford FC. Two goals in the 3:2 in the Champions League at Atletico Madrid And to top it off, three goals in the derby-5-0 at Old Trafford against Manchester United. Only in the 2-2 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion did Mohamed Salah remain without a goal in October – a goal was disallowed due to a narrow offside position.
In the Egyptian’s outstanding record in October, however, this is only a minimal blemish. Salah is in outstanding form. And so no one got past the 29-year-old in the vote for the ESM Eleven of the Month for October: with 13 out of 13 possible votes, he received the best possible result.
In addition to Salah, there is only one Bundesliga player in the selection – in September there were five. Robert Lewandowski of FC Bayern received nine votes, the second most of all players, as in the previous month. In Mikel Merino, another ex-Bundesliga player is included: The former Dortmund player (2016/17) convinces at La Liga leaders Real Sociedad San Sebastian and received four votes.
