Eleventh win in a row: Bayern remain hot on the heels of leaders Chemnitz

The Bayern basketball team is still unstoppable in the Bundesliga. Now it’s time for the top game against Chemnitz

FC Bayern Basketball remains hot on the heels of league leaders Niners Chemnitz in the Bundesliga. The team from Munich won 116:86 (61:43) at the Syntainics MBC from Weißenfels on Sunday to celebrate their eleventh league win in a row.

The team of Head Coach Pablo Laso, in which world champion Andreas Obst was the top scorer with 25 points, made sure things were clear as early as the first quarter. Obst drained eight threes, some of them spectacularly from well behind the three-point line, narrowly missing out on setting his personal best (9). Bayern gradually extended its lead up to the start of the final quarter and so spoiled MBC jubilarian and former Munich player John Bryant’s 450th Bundesliga game.

Bayern now have a record of 15-3 wins, while Chemnitz has played two games more and has won 17-3 so far. The two teams will meet in Munich on Tuesday. The situation remains critical for the MBC due to their 14th defeat of the season. The club is currently two wins ahead of Hakro Merlin Crailsheim, who occupy the first relegation spot

Alba wins the chasing duel – Göttingen gains some breathing space

Alba Berlin celebrated a hard-fought win at newly promoted Rasta Vechta in the chasing duel. Alba prevailed against the club from Lower Saxony by 98:89 (43:41). The game was only decided in the final quarter. Point guard Matteo Spagnolo shone with 16 points, while world champion Johannes Thiemann added 15.

In the third game of the day, BG Göttingen gained some breathing space in the relegation battle with a 101:70 (42:36) win against basement rivals Tigers Tübingen. BG center Karlis Silins (16 points, 11 rebounds) shone with a double-double
