After months of Twitter voting, Konami has determined the top team for eFootball 2022 in cooperation with the community – will real content follow?
Shortly after the long-term postponement of the presumed rescue update 1.0.0 for the messed-up eFootball 2022, the developer opened the search for the “Fan’s XI”. At the time, many supporters had interpreted the campaign as a diversion from the bad news that was pouring in.
The Twitter polls came to an end on Monday, and the community’s top team has been decided. Only the players of the big partner clubs were taken into account – critics would claim that eFootball 2022 hardly has more to offer. From a fan’s perspective, three FC Bayern Munich professionals are the virtual best in their position.
Neuer, Davies and Kimmich selected
The goal is guarded by Manuel Neuer, who beat out DFB team-mate Marc-André ter Stegen and United keeper David de Gea among others. The community also selected Alphonso Davies on the left defensive line and Joshua Kimmich in defensive midfield – beyond that, the FCB came away empty-handed.
Manchester United make up the bulk of the eleven with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo. FC Barcelona are represented by the duo of Pedri and Ansu Fati, while Juventus Turin centre-back Matthijs de Ligt rounds off the top selection for eFootball 2022.
How long will Konami stretch patience?
With the completion of the “Fan’s XI” campaign and the second pre-season match campaign, whose rewards will be awarded “after the release of v1.0.0”, the patch should be closer. Konami can hardly afford another postponement if the gap to the competition is not to grow immeasurably.
The official release date for the rescue update is “spring 2022” – a more than imprecise specification. If the developer continues to test the patience of the fans and does not make the patch available until May, no Twitter vote will be able to quell the frustration of the followers in the meantime.
