After six months Konami finally announces: Version 1.0.0 of the messed up release of “eFootball 2022” is coming. Many things have been revised. The details:
Light at the end of the tunnel for all PES players. At least that’s how Bayern pro Alex Alguacil posted it on Twitter. Today Konami announced its version 1.0.0, which is to be released on 14 April. The Japanese game developer has reworked a few things – but that was necessary, as the first release from September last year was considered disastrous and full of errors.
Six months later, Konami is very self-critical: on the website, the developer asks for apologies several times in the published statement. “eFootball 2022”, as PES is now called, is getting an all-round overhaul: the passes will be faster, the graphics better, new mechanics implemented. In detail:
Changes in defensive control and new function “demand pressure “
In the current version of eFootball it is difficult to take the ball from the opponent, therefore the defensive control has been revised. With one-touch commands like “press”, “positional play” and “shoulder bump”, the defender gets many new and familiar options (back) from previous PES games to win the ball. In addition, team members can now be called upon to apply pressure on the opponent.
Passing improvements and new command “Dream Pass “
Passes were often too slow and inaccurate. Konami claims to have worked on this for version 1.0.0: the passing speed was increased, better aiming for passes, better AI decision-making for the pass receivers and better movements of the pass receivers.
In addition, “dream passes” are now said to be possible, allowing “passes with different special trajectories. “
New trajectories for shots
A “dream” version will also be introduced for shots, which should be significantly more precise. Additionally new:
Better shot speed with focus on realism and satisfaction.
Adjusted ratio of shots on goal to appropriately reflect the gameplay.
Strategic development through improved dribbling functions
In addition, the players are said to have become more agile and the inputs with the left stick more precise. The players are also said to show better reactions during sprints. Likewise, the “Sharp Kick” feature finds its way back into the game:
“Other feature improvements include reaction and ball behaviour in the new ‘Sharp Kick’ command, as well as easier feint controls. We hope these adjustments will make for exciting duels with opposing defenders. “
Better online connection
After the catastrophic lags and disconnections, Konami also had to make some improvements here:
“In order to improve the stability of online connections and reduce the number of invalid games, we have decided to use a client-server system from this version onwards. We are also continuously working on improving response times in online games,” the release states.
New strategy features
Konami hides an important announcement under “Strategy Features”. Here you can read that the processor of the console is better utilised in the update, which should lead to shorter loading times. These were also clearly criticised in the current version. In addition, some familiar strategy functions return: “Change line-up”, “Individual instructions”, “Autom. selection”, “Secondary tactics” and “Data management” are named by the developer here.
Creating a new “Dream Team “
The messages about the dream team read somewhat cryptically. “Previously called ‘Creative Team’, the game mode that lets you build your very own team returns as ‘Dreamteam’ in the upcoming update. But it’s not just the name that’s new. We’ve also reworked many of our original ideas so that you can really build your own personal Dream Team,” Konami writes. A hint at a mode like FIFA Ultimate Team? However, it should be possible to develop your own players and coaches here.
So much for the news from Konami, eSport also took part in an exclusive hands-on event and was able to test the innovations on the console. The report on this will be published tomorrow, Thursday.
