Ecuador international dies at 22 after car crash

At the beginning of October, Ecuador’s Marco Angulo was taken to hospital after a serious car crash. He has now succumbed to his injuries.

After 35 days in hospital, Ecuador international Marco Angulo has died at the age of 22 as a result of a car crash. According to reports by the television station Ecuavisa, several operations were performed on the footballer’s brain, but ultimately they could not save his life.

Angulo was involved in a traffic accident in the capital Quito at the beginning of October, in which his car crashed into a metal construction weighing several tons. In addition to him, two other people were killed, as reported by El Universo.

Angulo played twice for Ecuador

“His passing is an irreplaceable loss that will leave an indelible mark on our hearts,” Angulo’s club LDU de Quito said on Facebook, offering its condolences to his family and loved ones.

The midfielder made his debut in the Ecuadorian second division in 2020. He eventually joined LDU de Quito via a stopover in the United States with FC Cincinnati. In November 2022 and March 2023, he played twice for his country’s national team in friendlies against Iraq and Australia.
