Seven German FIFA professionals made it through the group stage of the eChampions League on Sunday and are still in the hunt for the virtual pot.
Of the remaining 32 eChampions League contenders, almost a quarter come from Germany, so the chances of a local winner in FIFA 22 remain high. On Sunday, however, the top of the ranking according to the Swiss system was not a German but an Italian professional.
Giovanni “Giovhy” Salvaggio of Sampdoria Genoa won all five matches in the “Central and Eastern Europe” zone. Among others, he beat Laurin-Noah ‘SnakeZ’ Bartsch from Bochum. Right behind ‘Ghiovy’ come Umut ‘Umut’ Gültekin of RB Leipzig and Berkay ‘BerkayLion’ Demirci of SV Werder Bremen, who suffered only one defeat.
‘BerkayLion’ remains in top form
‘Umut’ suffered his only defeat over two games (4:7) against the very same ‘BerkayLion’. The latter, in turn, was only defeated by Henning ‘Henning’ Wilmbusse from Hansa Rostock with 0:7. BerkayLion’ is continuing his excellent season – the Werder talent was ranked 25th in the second FGS Qualifier.
From a German perspective, the aforementioned ‘Henning’, Lukas ‘Lukas_1004’ Seiler from TSG Hoffenheim, Ditmir ‘Ditmir4897’ Alimi from 1. FC Köln, Ali ‘PredatorFIFA’ Oskoui Rad as the second Bremen player and Deniel ‘Denii_10’ Mutic from 1. FSV Mainz 05 also made it to the knockout phase of the eChampions League.
In addition, Turkey’s Koray ‘KKoray_’ Kücükgünar of VfL Bochum advanced to the next round on the fourth weekend of April after three wins in the group stage. Other big names in the knockout phase will be the likes of Sweden’s Mattias ‘OpTolle’ Tolinsson and Israeli Roee ‘Feldman’ Feldman.
‘MoAuba’ out, ‘Tekkz’ on
Meanwhile, FIFA World Cup winner Mohammed ‘MoAuba’ Harkous, veteran Cihan ‘Cihan’ Yasarlar of Hertha BSC and Yannick ‘Jeffryy’ Reiners of Borussia Mönchengladbach are among those who will have to bury their dream of winning the virtual top flight. The latter only needed one win to advance, but against ‘Denii_10’ (2:4) was the end of the line in round five.
A number of prominent FIFA professionals from the second zone, Western Europe, such as Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt, Matias ‘matiasbonanno99’ Bonanno and Levi ‘LevideWeerd’ de Weerd, also made it through to the knockout phase. Frenchman Diogo ‘DPeixoto7’ Peixoto was the only player to secure five wins in the Western Europe group.
