With his season-best 53 points, Kevin Durant led the Brooklyn Nets to a home win over the New York Knicks in the North American Basketball League NBA.
With just one point shy of his career best, Durant excelled in Sunday’s 110-107 win, hitting a three-pointer to give the Nets the decisive lead they would not relinquish in the final minute.
Of the three stars on the Nets team, Durant was the only one to feature in the duel between the New York teams. Newcomer Ben Simmons is not yet fit, Kyrie Irving is not allowed to play in New York because of the missing vaccination against the corona virus.
But because the vaccination requirement for spectators, unlike people going about their business, has now been lifted, Irving was able to watch a home game from the stands for the first time this season and saw Durant’s outstanding performance from there. The 33-year-old also finished with six rebounds and nine assists.
Julius Randle was the Knicks’ best scorer with 26 points. The Knicks’ chances of qualifying for the play-offs are dwindling, while the Nets can continue to hope for play-off games without another diversions.
