Ducati has decided: He will be Marc Marquez’s crew chief in 2025

Since this season, Marc Marquez has been working with Frankie Carchedi at Gresini – With the move to the Ducati factory team, he will have a new crew chief

When Marc Marquez joins the Ducati factory team for the 2025 MotoGP season, he will work with Marco Rigamonti as crew chief. Motorsport.com has learned that Ducati intends to retain the Italian technician, who currently looks after Enea Bastianini, even after the switch to Marquez.

Rigamonti will be responsible for managing the team working on the Desmosedici GP25 that Marquez will ride next year. For the last two seasons, he has taken on this job alongside Bastianini’s garage.

Rigamonti previously worked with Andrea Iannone for many years, both when he rode for Ducati and for Suzuki in 2017 and 2018. He then returned to Ducati to be Johann Zarco’s crew chief in the Pramac satellite team.

Last weekend in Assen, Marquez made his first public appearance since Ducati announced that they had chosen him over Jorge Martin in the battle to be Francesco Bagnaia’s teammate.

Marquez himself finally revealed that Javi Ortiz, the only mechanic he took with him from his previous stint at Honda to Gresini and with whom he has a close relationship, will follow him to the Ducati factory team.

It is also likely that Mattia Sereni, his current electronics engineer and one of the Gresini staff at Ducati, will also join him.

Since joining Gresini, Marquez has been working with Frankie Carchedi, the engineer who helped Joan Mir become world champion with Suzuki in 2020. However, Carchedi is under contract directly with the Faenza-based team.

“Those responsible at Ducati will start by appointing the people they think are most suitable for me to ensure that I deliver the best possible performance,” said Marquez in Assen about the selection of his crew in the factory team.

The choice of Rigamonti puts an end to rumors that Marquez could possibly reunite with Santi Hernandez, who has been his crew chief for seven of his eight world titles. He will most likely remain with the Honda factory team alongside Joan Mir in 2025
