DTM-BoP Spa: BMW will be slowed down compared to the competition

The Balance of Performance for the GT3 premiere of the DTM at Spa-Francorchamps is changed for all cars: BMW stays the same weight and loses power

The DTM has published the Balance of Performance (BoP) for the GT3 premiere of the traditional series at Spa-Francorchamps – and it includes changes for all cars: Compared to the Nürburgring classification for Sunday’s race, the Audi and the Porsche are allowed to unload five kilograms, while the Mercedes-AMG, the Ferrari and the Lamborghini will be lighter by no less than ten kilograms.

Only the BMW M4 GT3, for which the circuit with its fast corners should suit, remains at its kerb weight. Apart from that, DTM leader Sheldon van der Linde has to do without some power: Through Eau Rouge and up the Kemel straight, the BMW drivers have to manage with 0.020 bar less boost pressure than in the Eifel.

Overall, it is noticeable that, apart from the Porsche 911 GT3 R, which weighs only 1,275 kilograms due to its vehicle characteristics, the weight delta is lower than at the first races of the season, as it was last time, and amounts to only 30 kilograms.

According to the AVL Racetech classification, the BMW is the second lightest car after the Porsche at 1,310 kilograms, while the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo and the Mercedes-AMG GT3 weigh the most at 1,340 kilograms. Nothing has changed in the restrictors compared to the Nürburgring weekend.

DTM-BoP Spa-Francorchamps 2022:

Mercedes-AMG GT3: 1,340 kg/2 x 36 mm (restrictor)
Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II: 1,340 kg/2 x 37 mm (restrictor)

Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo: 1,340 kg/2 x 41 mm (restrictor)
Porsche 911 GT3 R: 1,275 kg/2 x 48 mm (restrictor)
