Viktoria Köln won 2-1 at Türkgücü München thanks to a double strike before the break and celebrated their fourth competitive match win in a row. Munich, meanwhile, should be ringing alarm bells after their third defeat in a row
Türkgücü coach Peter Hyballa had to make one change after the 0:1 defeat in Meppen: Türpitz started for the suspended Chato (yellow-red). Viktoria coach Olaf Janßen made three changes to his starting eleven compared to the 1-0 loss to leaders Magdeburg: Lorch, Berzel and Marseiler started for Rossmann, Buballa and Klefisch.
Double strike puts Cologne on course
Both teams looked for the offensive at the beginning. After a first warning shot by Sorge (2nd), the visitors had the first big chance: Hong’s shot hit the crossbar (14th). One minute later, however, Cologne took the lead, Sontheimer hitting the ball ideally from 20 metres. Viktoria stayed in it – and were rewarded quickly: After Heister’s cross, Hong scored his first league goal with his head – 2:0 (19.).
Türkgücü found it extremely difficult to create chances in this phase. Knöll scored the equaliser, but was just offside (28.). Sararer’s free-kick a little later went over (36.). In the end, the Munich team could be happy that the score was only 0:2 at the break, because Hong missed a great chance to make it 3:0, as Vollath was on his guard (36.).
Barry’s goal too late
Türkgücü came out of the dressing room with Gorezl and Sliskovic for Vrenezi and Knöll. And the home side soon had a good chance, Türpitz pushed the ball past on the right (55.). Those who expected a storming run by the Munich team were disappointed. Instead, the Rhinelanders had the match well under control and missed the final decision through Amyn (70.) and Möller (71.).
And so Viktoria had to tremble once again when Barry, who had come on as a substitute, scored with a technically demanding direct shot to make it 1:2 (81.). Türkgücü now believed in their chance and threw everything forward in the final phase. But the Cologne team defended everything away and kept the lead over time.
Türkgücü lost for the third time in a row. The next match after the international break is at Eintracht Braunschweig on 20 November at 2pm. Viktoria Köln continue their strong run (14 points from the last six games) and travel to Meppen on 22 November (7pm).
