Doncic with artwork at Mavs win in Houston: “He’s Picasso”

The Houston Rockets have won eleven in a row before the Texas duel with the Dallas Mavricks – then Doncic arrives. The Slovenian puts on a gala performance and enchants the arena with an arty basket

Luka Doncic has led the Dallas Mavericks to their seventh win in a row with a gala performance and scored a magic basket in the Texas duel with the Houston Rockets. The Slovenian had seven rebounds, 12 assists and 47 points in the 125:107 victory on Easter Sunday (local time) – the most spectacular of which was a shot from almost the three-point line as the clock ran out in the third quarter. “He’s Picasso. Give him a brush and he makes something special. That shot was special,” coach Jason Kidd said.

The Mavericks, led by Maxi Kleber from Würzburg, moved up to fifth place in the Western Conference two weeks before the end of the main round and are now level on points with the New Orleans Pelicans. The Rockets, on the other hand, conceded another defeat after eleven recent wins and lost touch with the Golden State Warriors in tenth place and the last place to participate in the play-in for the play-offs. The Warriors led by superstar Stephen Curry defeated the San Antonio Spurs with exceptional talent Victor Wembanyama 117:113.

Knicks in danger of losing fourth place in the East – Only theoretical chances left for Schröder and the Nets

Germans Isaiah Hartenstein and Dennis Schröder also suffered bitter defeats. Hartenstein and the Knicks lost 112:113 in the last second against the Oklahoma City Thunder, who thus regained the lead in the Western Conference standings and clinched a playoff spot. The Knicks had only just lost to the Spurs on Friday after overtime and are in danger of losing fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

Schröder, on the other hand, only has a theoretical chance of making the play-offs with the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets lost 104:116 against his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers led by superstar LeBron James. The team of the German world champion captain is already five and a half wins behind the Atlanta Hawks in tenth place with seven games to go.
