DonChap28 is still without a club. On X (formerly Twitter), the pro now announced that his time as an active eSportsman is “probably coming to an end”. Nevertheless, he is “consciously not quite saying goodbye yet”.
For five years Marcel ‘DonChap28’ has been a German professional in FIFA eSports. A time that will “probably” come to an end. The 31-year-old shared this on X (formerly Twitter). He had “always had hope” that “it would still go on for me, but my time as a professional is probably coming to an end. It’s been a great five years. In those years he had “gained a lot of experience, played some great offline tournaments and met cool people”.
Deutscher “would have loved to continue”, but is critical of the development “in FIFA eSport in general, but also partly in the squad planning of the clubs”. “Nevertheless, I will continue to play as well as I can – Pro Ladder and so on, as long as work and the late shift allow it,” writes ‘DonChap28’. Since you never know “what’s going to happen in the future, I’m deliberately not saying goodbye quite yet. “
Multiple Grand Final appearances in portfolio
During his career, Deutscher played for Eintracht Frankfurt, Hannover 96, Darmstadt 98 and most recently Karlsruher SC. The Badeners signed ‘DonChap’ after the amicable termination of the contract of Andreas ‘Andy’ Gube, whose future in professional FC-24-eSport is equally uncertain. DonChap28′ qualified for the Grand Final of the Virtual Bundesliga with both Darmstadt and Frankfurt.
EA SPORTS FC 24 eSports has already started, but initially turned into a “complete disaster”. Some professionals have sharply criticised both phantom defeats, long waiting times and unfulfilled conditions of participation. eSports has a tough time in FC 24 anyway, as the new eSports ecosystem shifts the focus to national leagues and clubs. Organisations are thus facing extinction – NEO already withdrew from the FC 24 division.
