DJB mourns the death of coaching icon

The long-standing women’s national coach passed away last week at the age of 80.

The German Judo Federation (DJB) mourns the death of its long-standing women’s national coach Norbert Littkopf. “Nobsch” died last Friday at the age of 80 after a long and serious illness. This was announced by the DJB on Tuesday.

Littkopf was the national women’s coach from 1990 to 2008. During his tenure, the team won the 1993 World Championship title with Johanna Hagn and the 2004 Olympic title with Yvonne Bönisch in Athens. In total, his team won 82 medals at European and World Championships and the Olympics – 19 of them gold, 15 silver and 48 bronze.
