On Saturday, the first 14 VBL teams will enter the title race for the DFB-ePokal powered by ERGO 2022 as part of the Club Qualifier – only three teams will advance
Thirty-seven teams have already qualified for the final day of the qualifiers via the regional qualifiers for North, South, West and East as well as the regional association trophies. Three more teams will be added to this field on Saturday evening via the Club Qualifier, which is made up of the VBL Club Championship, the 3rd Division and the Women’s Bundesliga.
The focus is, of course, on the clubs of the VBL, with 14 of these teams competing in the battle to progress: From the North-West Division, it is Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Hansa Rostock, FC Schalke 04, FC St. Pauli, VfL Wolfsburg, SC Paderborn and Holstein Kiel. The septet had missed out on places one to six in the first leg.
German champions and eNational players
From the South-East Division, SV Darmstadt 98, SV Sandhausen, Hertha BSC, TSG Hoffenheim, Eintracht Frankfurt, 1. FSV Mainz 05 and SSV Jahn Regensburg will again compete in the Club Qualifier. The field of participants is consequently prominent, big names like Cihan Yasarlar or Mustafa ‘xMusti19’ Cankal will be on show.
The 3rd division will be represented by a number of traditional clubs, including 1. FC Kaiserslautern, TSV 1860 München and Eintracht Braunschweig. VfL Wolfsburg will be represented twice: In addition to the VBL selection, a mixed team with the two players ‘Kiara’ and ‘Eddah04’ will also be taking part.
In the knockout format to the top trio
Only three teams from the Club Qualifier will advance to the final day of the Qualifiers on 5 and 6 March, with the knockout format determining the two finalists and the winner of the third-place match. The next DFB ePokal round can be followed live on Saturday from 6pm on the DFB eFootball Twitch channel.
On the final day of the qualifiers, 20 teams will be sought for the main round to join the best twelve VBL teams for the main round. The final of the DFB ePokal 2022 will be played between the strongest eight teams of the main round, and the successor of the premiere winner Celtic Worms FC will be crowned on 3 April.
