DFB-ePokal: Two VBL duels, FOKUS against KiNG eSports

In the DFB-ePokal, the hot phase of the 2021/22 season begins at the end of March, the main round has already been drawn – two VBL encounters are on the schedule.

The final day of the Qualifiers has concluded the preliminary round of the DFB-ePokal, in the main round the qualifiers will meet the twelve best clubs of the VBL Club Championship first round on 31 March. Four teams from the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) will meet each other directly in the first knockout round.

South-East division winner RB Leipzig will face VfL Bochum. Despite a top-class squad led by Benedikt ‘BeneCR7x’ Bauer, the Blue and Whites disappointed in the VBL Club Championship and finished the North-West Division in ninth place. The cards will be reshuffled in the DFB-ePokal.

96 and Fürth against VBL frustration

In the second VBL encounter, Hannover 96 will take on SpVgg Greuther Fürth. While the Kleeblätter missed out on a play-off spot, Hannover 96 were defeated by 1. FC Heidenheim in the intermediate round. Only one of the two teams can make it to the round of 16.

The main round will be played in a knock-out system, and any overall defeat means elimination on the way to winning the DFB e-Cup. As usual, the duels will be played in a best-of-3 format, and in addition to the VBL matches, there are a number of other interesting encounters on the programme.

SP9 still double in the race
