The game between Crystal Palace and Liverpool at Selhurst Park is set to kick off at 21:00 CET. Roy Hodgson knows who he’s up against.

“You’re playing against players who cost a lot of money, players who have a very strong pedigree, players whose technical ability is very good, whose physical capacity is good.
“I don’t know that you can necessarily stop them for 90 minutes from getting anywhere near your goal – that might be too strong an objective.
“But we hope we can keep them quiet enough for us to get enough of the ball and cause them enough problems to get a result in the game, it really isn’t more complicated than that.”
Jurgen Klopp is wary of his opponent too.
“Roy has calmed the whole situation down there in a difficult moment, used all his experience, and now they are playing football.
“It’s nice to see the development in a football club. In the end, we only go there to win the game. We have to make sure they cannot show their quality.”
Crystal Palace became a different team once Roy Hodgson took over from Frank de Boer last season. Slowly but surely, the team recovered from a horrendous start and recovered in time to avoid “extinction”.
Keep an eye on Wilfried Zaha
Hodgson found a way to activate Wilfried Zaha’s hibernating talent last season and he responded with a career year. Keeping him was the best piece of business The Eagles did this summer. Zaha scored in last weekend’s 2-0 win at Fulham and will try to do so again on Monday. If he does, he will surpass Chris Armstrong as Crystal Palace’s all-time record goalscorer in the Premier League.

Each of the last four meetings between these two sides at Selhurst Park ended with a Liverpool win in which both teams scored. Palace has never won their opening home fixture of a Premier League season, while The Reds kept just five clean sheets on the road in 2017/18.

Both teams to score 1.7 (7/10)
Liverpool win and both teams to score 2.62 (13/8)
Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah scored in the last match between the two in which Liverpool turned a 1-0 half-time deficit into a 2-1 road victory. Mane has actually scored more goals against Palace than any other PL side (five goals in seven games). Both of them found the net in Liverpool’s opening round 4-0 drubbing of West Ham, so betting on them to score in what should be a goal-filled contest is not a bad idea.
Mohamed Salah to score 1.5 (1/2)
Sadio Mane to score 2.25 (5/4)
Wilfried Zaha to score 3.75 (11/4)
Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Team News
Hodgson has a full squad available today, while Klopp is still without the services of Dejan Lovren. Joel Matip should be fit enough to earn a bench spot, with Joe Gomez occupying the centre back position next Virgil Van Dijk.
