Since the European Championship triumph last summer, Federico Chiesa (24) has repeatedly struggled with muscular injuries. Now the Juventus Turin midfielder has been hit even worse.
On Sunday evening, Chiesa injured his left knee during the first half of the spectacular away match at AS Roma (4:3 after 1:3): After a duel with Chris Smalling, the international was first treated and finally substituted after a short return to the pitch (32nd).
According to a club report on Monday afternoon, Chiesa has injured his anterior cruciate ligament and will need surgery in the coming days.
