Cricket News Today: Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan Lead India past Pakistan

India smashed Pakistan by nine wickets. The victory, coupled with Bangladesh’s win over Afghanistan, means India have booked their place in Friday’s Asia Cup Super Four final in Dubai.

India vs Pakistan Highlights

Pakistan opted to bat first and set a 238-run target for India. India restricted Pakistan to 237-7 before chasing down the target in 39.3 overs, for the loss of just one wicket. Shoaib Malik led Pakistan innings by scoring 78 off 90 balls. Shikhar Dhawan completed his 15th one-day international hundred in 95 balls and then Rohit Sharma reached his 19th one-day international hundred off 106 balls for a final result of India 238-1 (39.3 overs) – Pakistan 237-7 (50 overs).

India vs Pakistan Man of the Match

Shikhar Dhawan started the day and hit 114 from 100 balls before he was run out. His partner and India skipper Rohit Sharma took over and he remained unbeaten on 111 off 119 balls to claim the Man of the Match award.

It was India’s second win against Pakistan in the Asia Cup, as they beat their bitter rivals in the group stage by eight wickets. On Sunday, Sharma and Dawan combined for India’s highest ever one-day international win against Pakistan and the country’s fourth highest opening stand against anyone in the one-day internationals format.

The victory means India have virtually secured a place in Friday’s final, where they will face the winner of the Bangladesh – Pakistan match. Bangladesh ended Afghanistan’s chances of reaching the final in a final-over thriller, winning by three runs.
