Corona outbreak at sports press ball – Eintracht staff affected

At the sports press ball, which took place on 6 November at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, several Eintracht staff members were infected with COVID-19 despite vaccination. The virus has apparently not yet been transmitted to the team, and the scheduled testing of the professionals on Tuesday is expected to give the all-clear.

As reported in Tuesday’s edition of “Bild”, former Eintracht professionals and marketing staff are said to have been infected, as well as legal advisor Philipp Reschke. A total of ten people are said to have been affected. but did not give any details about the exact number of those infected. All employees from the marketing department were sent to their home offices as a precaution.

The Sports Press Ball was held as a 2G event to which only vaccinated or recovered guests were admitted; the first cases of Corona had already become known last week. The team and staff did not attend the ball and have not been tested positive so far. However, they can only breathe a sigh of relief if the scheduled PCR tests on Tuesday turn out negative.

Eintracht tests its professional players, including those who have been vaccinated or have recovered, several times a week and thus goes beyond what is required in the concept of the “Task Force Sports Medicine / Special Match Operations” of the DFL. Under the item “Basic Measures”, it states: “The specifications and measures of this follow-up concept are based on the principle that persons classified with “GG status” (fully vaccinated or recovered) are no longer subject to testing. “
