Tennis pro Borna Coric has celebrated his first win at an ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
The 25-year-old Croatian beat Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6 (7-0), 6-2. Coric had travelled to Mason/Ohio near Cincinnati as 152nd in the world rankings. The Croatian will now climb to 29th place in the rankings thanks to his success at the 6.3 million dollar hard court event. It was his third title overall on the ATP Tour.
German doubles specialist Tim Pütz, on the other hand, suffered a defeat in the final alongside his New Zealand partner Michael Venus. Pütz/Venus lost to the combination Rajeev Ram/Joe Salisbury (USA/UK) 6:7 (4:7), 6:7 (5:7).
