“Complete trust”: Kehl has Sahin’s back

Borussia Dortmund is not really doing well this season, especially away from home. After the 1-2 loss in Augsburg, sports director Sebastian Kehl analyzed the game and fully backed coach Nuri Sahin.

“We didn’t do well in the decisive situations. We took the lead and actually had the game under control. We just have to do better in these crucial scenes. We put in a lot of effort, but in the end it wasn’t powerful enough,” analyzed BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl after the 1-2 defeat in Augsburg on Sky.

The former midfielder’s clear message: “We have to keep working with the team. That’s not our current aim, so we don’t need to talk about it.”

It was already the third defeat in eight league games. Away from home, there has only been one point from four matches so far. Nevertheless, Sahin is still firmly in the saddle, as Kehl made unequivocally clear. “He has complete trust, no question about it,” said the sporting director. “We took a new approach in the summer and put together a new team. We’re not yet where we want to be. But there is no alternative but to continue working hard.“

”In the end, we are all responsible”

Kehl’s impressions during the week also confirm that Sahin is the right man. “Ultimately, we are all responsible. I see the coach and his team working with the team every day. Nuri prepares the team meticulously and has also developed a game plan for today,” the sporting director makes clear. ‘In the end, it’s up to the guys on the pitch to implement it.’

At least on Saturday, however, they didn’t succeed. Borussia Dortmund can do better as early as Tuesday, when they play in the cup at VfL Wolfsburg.
