Return to the North Sea promises thrilling motorsport – Oosten eagerly awaiting his home fixture at Circuit Zandvoort
No rest for the ADAC GT Masters drivers at their vacation destination: The second round of the ADAC GT Masters will take place on the Dutch North Sea coast at Zandvoort from June 7th to 9th as part of the DTM. On the demanding dune circuit with its steep bends, full concentration will once again be required
Tom Kalender and Elias Seppänen will travel to the track west of Amsterdam as championship leaders in the Mercedes-AMG. Maxime Oosten (FK Performance), who is currently in second place and won the season opener, is looking forward to his home event in the BMW M4 GT3:
“The challenging passages, the proximity to the sea and the many fantastic fans always create a great atmosphere. Winning there would be a special experience for me.”
After a one-year break, the ADAC GT Masters returns to the current Formula 1 circuit at Zandvoort with a total of seven different premium manufacturers. A spectacular comeback on the coastal circuit is guaranteed, because with its blind crests and steep turns, Circuit Zandvoort has a lot to offer.
Among the favorites in the Netherlands are Seppänen and Kalender in the Mercedes-AMG GT3, who are also ahead in the “Road to DTM” standings.
“After the great start to the season, we want to attack again in Zandvoort and get the maximum out of our car. Tom and I are highly motivated and ready for the second round,” says Seppänen, who is aiming to defend his title as last year’s champion.
David Schumacher is also motivated. The 22-year-old secured pole position at the season opener in Oschersleben, but technical misfortune thwarted a good result.
Together with defending champion Salman Owega, the son of ex-Formula 1 and DTM driver Ralf Schumacher is now aiming for his first podium in Zandvoort in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 of the Haupt Racing Team. The Aston Martin and Lamborghini teams, who failed to finish on the podium in Oschersleben, are also pursuing this goal.
Leon Köhler and his team-mate Oosten also believe they have a good chance. Like Kalender/Seppänen, the duo recorded a victory in the season opener. Team Emil Frey Racing in particular have fond memories of their last appearance in Zandvoort in the ADAC GT Masters in 2022.
Back then, the team from Switzerland won both races. Since this season, the team from Safenwil has been relying on the Ferrari 296 GT3 and the services of Swiss duo Jean Luc’Auria and Alain Valente in the ADAC GT Masters.
