In the position of Managing Director Sport, 1. FC Köln will have to make do with the interim solution for a while yet. In April, however, Christian Keller will take up his duties.
Keller will, according to the Cologne announcement, “take over the position on 1 April 2022 and work as part of the team with Thomas Kessler, Sporting Director of the Licensed Player Department, and Lukas Berg, Head of Administration Licensed Player Department”.
The 42-year-old already managed the business at Jahn Regensburg between 2013 and 2021, where he held both sporting and commercial-administrative responsibility. During this time, Jahn was promoted from the 4th to the 2nd league, where it has long since established itself.
“We had time to hold intensive and good talks. We were absolutely convinced by Christian Keller “, vice-president Eckhard Sauren is quoted as saying. “His detailed analyses and his comprehensive expertise are really impressive. Keller, in turn, was convinced by the “efforts, seriousness, reliability and professionalism of those responsible at FC”.
Jörg Jakobs, who has held the sporting responsibility for FC on an interim basis since June 2021, will then return to an advisory role, according to the club.
