Josep Guardiola has communicated his transfer wishes for the upcoming transfer period to the club leadership of Manchester City. According to The Guardian, the Spanish manager wants the British superpower to join Virgil van Dijk in the future; Guardiola also expects that the club management will attempt to hijack Alexis Sánchez, who will be free of transfers next year, from Arsenal.
Last summer Van Dijk tried to force a transfer to an English top team, especially Liverpool and Chelsea were charmed by the Orange international. However, Southampton did not cooperate and kept the 26-year-old defender on his contract. At the moment, besides Liverpool and Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City would hope that they could tie Van Dijk. According to the English quality newspaper, City would already be in contact with Southampton about a possible deal.
Guardiola sees Van Dijk as the ideal man in the defence at City in the coming years, but according to The Guardian, the Citizens will not take any action this winter to get Van Dijk, who is seen as the substitute for Vincent Kompany. However, Sky Sports reports that the defender is an option for City this winter. In addition to Van Dijk, Alexis Sánchez is still regarded as a welcome addition to the current premier of the Premier League, and several English media reports that Chileans are indeed going to move to City this winter.
