The Niners Chemnitz have consolidated their lead at the top of the BBL table with a hard-earned win. The surprise team won 94:90 (49:44) at Rostock Seawolves on matchday 19 and now has 16 wins to its name. First-placed Bayern Munich (13:3 wins) do not have to play until Monday against EWE Baskets Oldenburg.
Rostock’s Wes Clark and Wilson Alston Jr. each had a strong day individually with 25 and 24 points respectively, while the visitors with top scorer Kevin Yebo (23) surrendered a ten-point lead at one stage, but held their nerve in the final phase.
Champions League winners Telekom Baskets Bonn prevailed 87:80 (38:43) at Hamburg Towers. With 14 points each, Brian Fobbs and Harald Frey were the top scorers for the Rhinelanders, who moved past the Towers in the table and are now eighth. Hamburg’s Vincent Earl King (15) scored the most points in the game
