Chemnitz extend contract with home-grown player Walther

Chemnitz FC have extended the contract of home-grown player Niclas Walther. The 19-year-old signed for the next two and a half years.

The club announced this on the club website. According to the statement, the 19-year-old signed a contract until 2023/2024. “Niclas has proven several times in the current season what talent he has. I am all the more pleased that we have succeeded in convincing Niclas of our common path at CFC and to bind him to the club in the long term,” said Marc Arnold, managing director of sport at Chemnitzer FC.

Walther himself also commented positively: “I’m grateful to the people in charge for already putting a lot of trust in me in my first professional year,” said the left-back. “I see excellent prospects for my personal and sporting development in Chemnitz and at CFC and I’m looking forward to my further time at the club.”

Walther made 16 appearances in the Regionalliga Nordost this season, scoring one goal.
