The Niners Chemnitz are becoming more and more the big fear opponent for FC Bayern Munich. On Tuesday, the Saxons won their third game of the season against the league leader and defeated the Munich team 77:58 (46:28) in the Bundesliga.
The Saxons had already won the first leg in Munich and the cup match. “It’s proving more and more true. They come here and get sent home,” Chemnitz pro Malte Ziegenhagen said on “Magentasport”.
The title contenders never found their way into the game and were already clearly behind at the break. “We didn’t score anything, Chemnitz scored almost everything,” explained Bayern’s co-coach Demond Greene, who stood in for Andrea Trinchieri, who was prevented from playing at short notice. The game-stressed guests only put five throws on target in 32 attempts from distance. Deshaun Thomas was the most successful Bayern shooter with 14 points. Mindaugas Susinskas was the best scorer for the third-placed team with 14 points.
Alba wins in Frankfurt
Champion Alba Berlin had some problems for a long time in their 72:56 (42:31) win over relegation candidate Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt. In the final quarter, however, the Berliners managed to concede only two points. The Hessians scored no points for 9:20 minutes. With the fourth success in a row, the champions climbed to fourth place and overtook ratiopharm Ulm. The team of coach Jaka Lakovic surprisingly lost against the Löwen Braunschweig with 59:78 (33:43).
