Chelsea vs. Perth Glory – Match Preview and Kick off Time

It is still the very early stages of the preseason for most clubs, where they arrange matches merely to give their players some fitness and to see how their new signings fit into the team. However, for Chelsea their first preseason match this year has more significance than usual because it is the first match that their new manager will be in charge for.

Maurizio Sarri manages Chelsea for the first time against Perth Glory, following his appointment to replace Antonio Conte.  This year’s preseason preparations have been affected by the number of players taking part in the World Cup, so it is not the ideal start for any new manager.

Chelsea team news:

Eden Hazard Holiday 2018 after World Cup

A large proportion of the team was involved in the latter stages of the World Cup so will not be available for Chelsea. Belgium’s Hazard and Courtois, Brazil’s Willian and France’s Giroud and Kante will be the most notable absences, as they are still on vacation. Sarri will instead call on some of his younger squad players like Tammy Abraham and Ross Barkley.

The team lining up against Perth is expected to be very different to the one that will line up against Manchester City in the Community Shield but this will still be an important game for some of the fringe players. They will be hoping to show their new boss what they can do and fight for a place in the squad.

Kick off times around the world

Sarri’s first match as Chelsea’s manager comes against Perth Glory, the Australian team that finished eighth in their last campaign in the A-League. The match takes place at Perth’s Optus Stadium at 7.30 pm local time (9.30pm AEST and 12.30pm GMT).

Getting to the stadium

Those travelling to the game are warned to give plenty of time to get to the stadium, as kick off will be during peak travel time around the busy city. Gates will open at 5.45pm and the train is the best way to get to the stadium with public transport.
