On WWE Monday Night RAW, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso lose the tag team titles again after just nine days, Austria phenom Gunther extends his historic record.
WWE top star Cody Rhodes is rid of the first title he won after making a comeback to the wrestling market leader after just nine days!
On the “Season Premiere” of the TV show Monday Night RAW, Rhodes and partner Jey Uso lost the tag team titles back to Finn Balor and Damian Priest of the Judgment Day group – as a result of unfair interference from an uninvited guest.
Jey Uso’s twin brother Jimmy Uso helped Balor and Priest regain the titles, further fueling the unresolved conflicts between him and Jey, as well as Cody Rhodes and “Undisputed Universal Champion” Roman Reigns.
Reigns, uncle of The Usos and leader of the Bloodline faction, was back on SmackDown on Friday after a several-month hiatus and appears headed for another WrestleMania duel with Rhodes.
WWE RAW: Judgment Day has all the titles back
Judgment Day, meanwhile, received another boost from WWE executives led by “Triple H” Paul Levesque, once again in sole charge of creative following the latest power shift to the detriment of company founder Vince McMahon.
All official members of the grouping once founded by legend Edge, who had just moved to rival AEW, now hold titles – Rhea Ripley is Women’s Champion on RAW, young Dominik Mysterio North American Champion in the rebuilding squad NXT. Mysterio also interfered in the match, but was kept in check by Sami Zayn, who was allied with Rhodes and Jey, with Jimmy, who is actually active on SmackDown, tipping the scales.
The RAW show ended with the quartet holding up all their belts in triumph.
Gunther remains IC Champ, new match for Crown Jewel
Meanwhile, in the show’s co-main event, Austrian phenom Gunther added another chapter to his historically long reign as Intercontinental Champion, defeating up-and-coming Australian Bronson Reed in a duel of heavyweights.
A new match, meanwhile, is also set for the Saudi Arabia show Crown Jewel on 4 November: World Women’s Champion Ripley puts her title on the line in a five-way match: opponents are the newly returned Nia Jax, Raquel Rodriguez, Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler.
Meanwhile, the World Title match between champion Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre, which was already scheduled for last week, has been heated up with a talking match that gives further hints of McIntyre’s looming “heel turn” into a villain.
The match is also exciting because McIntyre’s WWE contract is about to expire, no agreement has been reached on an extension and a departure of the “Scottish Warrior” is a realistic option.
