Liverpool

Liverpool has scored five goals per team that they’ve played in the Champions League this season. The town of Liverpool itself will allegedly be staging a victory parade if they beat Real Madrid. Following the defeat from rivals Bayern Munich in 2013, coach Jurgen Klopp is gearing up for his second Champions League final.

JURGEN KLOPP

50-year-old Jurgen is a former professional football player. He started out as a striker but became a defender in 1995. The majority of his 15-year playing career was spent with Mainz 05, before going on to become their longest-serving manager from 2001 to 2008. During his time managing Mainz 05 they were promoted to the Bundesliga. Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers after accepting a three-year contract for coaching Liverpool in October 2015.

MOHAMED SALAH

The Egyptian professional footballer Mohamed Salah plays as a forward for Liverpool and the Egyptian National team. The 25-year-old started his senior career in 2010 with his hometown club El Mokawloon. On the 22nd of June last year he agreed on a transfer to Liverpool. He signed the long-term contract initially for £34.3m. He has also just broken the record for most goals scored in a 38-game Premier League season. During this seasons Champions League Salah has scored 10 goals for Liverpool already.

Real Madrid

Real  Madrid became the first club to make a successful Champions League title defence during the previous season. They were also the first team to retain the European Cup since Milan 1989 and 1990. They have won 8 of their 12 games played in the Champions League so far losing only two.  Across the tournament, they’ve scored 10 goals under Liverpool with 30 nets.

ZINEDINE ZIDANE

French retired professional midfielder Zinedine Zidane is the current manager of Real Madrid football club. The 45-year-old played for Real Madrid, joining for a world record price of 150 billion Italian lire in 2001. He helped Real Madrid to win both the 2002 and 2003 La Liga. He was appointed as a special adviser to Real Madrid’s first team in 2010. Then in 2016 following the dismissal of manager Rafael Benitez Zidane was appointed the new manager for the club within the same day. He wants to be the first coach to win the European Cup in three successive seasons.

RONALDO

The 33-year-old Portuguese forward plays for Portugal’s national team and Spanish club Real Madrid. He signed a contract with Manchester United at the age of just 18 years old helping them to win three Premier League titles. If Real Madrid succeeds in Kyiv it will be the fifth Champions League triumph for the Ronaldo. The two goals he scored against Juventus made him the first player ever to score in three Champions League Finals. He is five goals ahead of Mo Salah this seasons Champions League with 15 scored in only 12 games.

PREDICTED LINE-UP

SPORTS OF THE DAYS VERDICT

This could be an extremely close game with both sides in similar form and both with extreme firepower. It may be more of a showdown between Salah and Ronaldo more than L.F.C vs Real Madrid. With Salah taking up so much space in the record books recently, we think he’ll bring the reds to Victory.

Google’s win probability is at 45% for Liverpool to beat Real Madrid. The chances of Real Madrid winning is at 30% with a 25% chance of it being a draw.
