CFC wants to prevent the “quick can opener” against Lok

With a great series, 1. FC Lok Leipzig travels to Chemnitz on Wednesday for the catch-up game. The CFC nevertheless go into the game self-confident and are given a clear brief by coach Daniel Berlinski.

Chemnitzer FC are expecting 3500 spectators at the stadium on Gellertstraße on Wednesday evening (7pm). According to the club, around 600 fans from Leipzig will be there. Berlinski is also looking forward to the game. “Of course, this is an extraordinary game with a lot of prestige,” the coach knows about the importance of the match.

In round three of the state cup in Saxony, defending champions Leipzig surprisingly lost 0:2 to fifth-division Budissa Bautzen on Saturday, while CF celebrated a 9:1 victory against Grimma. But Berlinski warns and points to the strong series in the league. Lok have picked up 16 points from their last six games, scoring 17:1 goals in the process.

Warning against Ziane

“A great team, but one that has had the quick can opener very often in recent weeks. They’ve led 1-0 quite early in three games. Then a game like that takes on a dynamic for you and it’s easier to play,” says Berlinski and knows what to do: “That’s why it’s important to be very awake at the start of the game, not to allow anything and to defend very focused.”

Defending was not much of a headache for the coach. “But we are one of the absolute top teams in the league in terms of defence,” he emphasised. The main challenge is to contain Leipzig attacker Djamal Ziane. The 29-year-old has already scored seven times in seven games. “We know how dangerous he is,” reassures Berlinski.
