Center Edigin leaves the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg

The series of departures at MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg continues. Eddy Edigin has activated a clause in his contract. The center is moving on after two years in the yellow and black jersey

Eddy Edigin is the next player to leave MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg. The 28-year-old and his new club, which has not yet been made public, have used an exit clause in his contract in exchange for a transfer fee, the German basketball club announced on Tuesday.

“I’ve been able to develop magnificently in my two years here,” said Edigin according to the club’s statement: “The decision to make the switch was not at all easy for me. Nevertheless, I decided to take a risk.”

The center has 107 competitive games under his belt for Ludwigsburg. “He promoted himself in all competitions and put in perhaps his best performance in his last game in the yellow and black jersey,” the team from Baden-Württemberg writes on its website. Edigin last went on the hunt for baskets in the play-off quarter-final against Bayern Munich. He scored 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. However, the 2.03-meter center was not able to prevent his team’s defeat and playoff exit

Edigin statistically one of Ludwigsburg’s best

Statistically speaking, Edigin was one of Ludwigsburg’s most important players in the 2023/24 BBL season. He grabbed the most rebounds in total with 227, both offensively and defensively. The 28-year-old averaged 7.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 0.6 blocks per game and was on court most often alongside Jaren Lewis and Desure Buie.

Edigin moved from Hamburg Towers to southern Germany in 2022 on a one-year contract. Edigin’s current contract was originally due to run until 2025, but “a sporting and financially attractive offer” meant he exercised the exit clause stipulated in his contract.
