Casemiro will miss “several weeks” for struggling United

Casemiro will miss Manchester United for several weeks due to a hamstring injury. The struggling Red Devils will once again be without their midfield stabilizer

The bad news for the Red Devils continues: first the clear defeat in the city derby against Manchester City (0:3), then the embarrassing exit against a B-team from Newcastle United in the League Cup, which set a negative record of almost 100 years – and now this: Manchester United will be without Casemiro for the coming weeks.

The Brazilian, who moved to the north-west of England from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 and has become the constant in midfield that the club had hoped for, only returned for the game against the Magpies after a three-week break due to an injury he picked up with the Brazilian national team.

Comeback ended after 45 minutes

Casemiro returned against Newcastle, even captaining his team on the pitch – and then had to be substituted at the break due to injury. On Friday, the fears were confirmed: Casemiro has suffered a hamstring injury and will be out for “several weeks”, as the Premier League club explained in a statement.

He will miss the game at Fulham on Saturday afternoon, that much is clear. But how long will the struggling record champions have to do without their midfield stabilizer? No more slip-ups are allowed in the league over the next few weeks. The top five is already seven points clear, and wins against upcoming opponents Fulham (14th), Luton Town (18th) and Everton (15th) are mandatory

United also under pressure in the Champions League

And there are also groundbreaking weeks ahead in the Champions League. With just one win from their first three games, the Red Devils have their backs to the wall, with the home defeat against Galatasaray particularly painful. On Wednesday, they face FC Copenhagen, who are strong at home and have already made life difficult for FC Bayer Munich. At the end of November, the team will then travel to the cauldron of Istanbul – something that league leaders Bayern Munich also know a thing or two about.

Casemiro should at least be able to play in the final and possibly decisive matchday 6 of the Champions League at home against Munich (December 12, 5.30 p.m.) – depending on how long those “several weeks” last.
