German racing driver Carrie Schreiner makes the leap into the Formula 1 environment and will be part of Sauber’s junior academy from 2024
German racing driver Carrie Schreiner will be part of the Swiss Sauber team line-up in 2024. The Formula 1 racing team, which will compete under the name Stake for the next two years, has included the 25-year-old from Saarland in its junior program ahead of the upcoming F1 Academy season
The reason for this is that, from 2024, every Formula 1 team must support a young female driver who will compete in the colors of the racing team in the second season of the F1 Academy. Schreiner will be one of three female drivers at Campos.
But as well as simply supporting her, Sauber has also decided to take her into the Sauber Academy and develop her skills there.
“It is a pleasure to welcome Carrie to the team and we look forward to our journey together in the F1 Academy,” says Sauber Team Manager Beat Zehnder, who is also responsible for the team’s junior academy.
He praises: “Despite her young age, Carrie already has an impressive track record. She demonstrates great racing skills and a strong ability to adapt to so many different series. We can’t wait to get started and see what we can build together.”
“With the expertise and support of our Formula 1 team, the Sauber Academy and Campos Racing, companies with decades of experience in motorsport, we are confident that we will achieve great things together,” said Zehnder.
Schreiner wants to win
Schreiner already competed for Team ART in the debut season of the women’s racing series and secured a win at Zandvoort, finishing eleventh in the overall standings. In 2024, she will now move to the Spanish Campos team, where she has so far been confirmed as the first female driver

“I am proud to represent this team and the Sauber Academy in the F1 Academy this year,” says the 25-year-old. “After an exciting first season, I’m looking forward to getting back to work. Sauber has an impressive motorsport history and I want to play my part in continuing the success story in the F1 Academy.”
“My goal for this season is just one thing: to win while flying the flag for the team and raising awareness for women in motorsport,” she continues. “The F1 Academy is a great platform to realize my ambitions and I am highly motivated to reach new milestones with our team and Campos Racing. “
These drivers have already been confirmed
Schreiner is the second German driver in a Formula 1 junior program alongside Sophia Flörsch (Alpine). However, Flörsch will not compete in the F1 Academy, but will return to Formula 3 in 2024.
In addition to Schreiner, four other women have already been confirmed as junior drivers for the series: Swiss driver Tina Hausmann (Aston Martin) will compete for Prema, while British driver Abbi Pulling (Alpine) will drive for Rodin. In addition, Bianca Bustamante (McLaren) from the Philippines and the American Lia Block (Williams) have been confirmed for ART.
The F1 Academy will host seven events, each with three races, as part of Formula 1 in 2024. It starts on March 8 in Saudi Arabia
