Former WWE Women’s Champion Carmella is no longer part of the league.
As reported by Fightful and PW Nexus, the 37-year-old’s contract recently expired and there is no new one yet. WWE may let another long-time performer go after Sonya Deville.
Carmella out of the WWE ring since 2023
The former SmackDown Women’s Champion was last seen in the WWE ring in spring 2023; in the fall of the same year, she gave birth to a son, who she is raising with husband Corey Graves.
She has not made a ring comeback since then, partly because she suffers from health problems: a so-called foot drop, the result of nerve damage probably caused by the pregnancy, makes it difficult for her to move.
However, Carmella had emphasized when she made her condition public that she was not thinking about ending her career and missing wrestling.
The exact reasons for the end of her contract are not known, but it is noticeable that, in addition to her, her husband has also recently fallen out of focus at WWE: Commentator Graves was recently transferred back to the NXT development squad and seemed annoyed about it in his initial reactions. However, he did not act on his threats to vent his alleged frustration on a larger scale.
