AC Milan successfully completed their dress rehearsal ahead of the Champions League clash with Dortmund. A measured performance and a converted penalty from Theo were enough for the Rossoneri against AC Florence. The 15-year-old Camarda also set a new Serie A age record
Before the important Champions League match against Dortmund, in which Milan are already banned from losing, the Rossoneri wanted to gain confidence in Serie A against Florence. However, it took AC 23 minutes to open the scoring against Fiorentina, who are also in the top third of the table. After a probing phase on both sides, Pulisic tested goalkeeper Terracciano for the first time with a powerful strike
Milan closing in
The 2022 champions remained the more dangerous team. A deflected Calabria cross was parried by Terracciano (43′) and Pobega’s header shortly afterwards (45′).
The visitors from Florence played pleasingly up to the penalty area, but Milan keeper Maignan did not really have to intervene – also because teammate Pobega was careful (33′) and former Stuttgart player Gonzalez missed
Theo is fouled and converts the penalty himself
Jovic, who had replaced the suspended Giroud, made an appearance shortly before the break. After his set-piece pass, Theo broke through into the penalty area and was brought down by Parisi. The fouled player converted the resulting penalty to make it 1:0 at the break (45:+2).
After the break, it was the Rossoneri who got off to the better start. However, Terracciano was in good form and saved a header from Samu Chukwueze (49′). His opposite number Maignan was then called into action for the first time, as the Frenchman took the highest risk to catch the ball off Beltran’s foot after a counter-attack (50′).
Passive Rossoneri – Gonzalez unlucky
Milan then pulled back sharply and allowed the Viola players to open up. And Fiorentina came forward, but were mostly too awkward near the penalty area. Gonzalez was also unlucky that his shot from an acute angle only touched the post (62′).
Nothing came from the home side in attack for a long time, then Jovic made it 2:0 alone in front of Terracciano after Theo’s pinpoint pass (75′). The Florentines tried everything but missed the target too often, but still had a great chance to equalize in stoppage time. However, Maignan saved with his right temple against Mandragora (90.+6) to ensure a successful CL dress rehearsal, which also allowed Milan to move ahead of Fiorentina in the table
Camarda’s record
The final highlight was provided by a teenager: Camarda, who was only 15 years and 260 days old (born in 2008), became the youngest player ever to play in Serie A when he came on as a substitute in the 85th minute. The Milan attacker replaced defender Wisdom Amey, who was 15 years and 274 days old when he joined from FC Bologna in 2021.
