After the 2:4 at Holstein Kiel, Borussia Dortmund’s crisis is coming to a head. The sporting downturn also has an impact in FC 25, where five stars are punished.
As “embarrassing and unworthy” described sports director Lars Ricken the appearance of the BVB professionals in Kiel. The black and yellow lost 2-4 at the Störche – Nuri Sahin’s team was already clearly behind after 45 minutes (0-3).
This means that Dortmund is slipping further down the table and is currently in ninth place. Qualification for the Champions League is moving further away – and with it, the season goal of Sahin’s team.
Three midfielders are affected
The sporting crash also has an impact on EA SPORTS FC 25. The developer made cuts to five stars, starting with the goal. There, EA takes one point off Gregor Kobel in a total of three attributes, which also affects his overall rating. This is now 87 instead of 88.
While none of the defenders have seen a downgrade, there are three midfielders: Emre Can, Marcel Sabitzer and Pascal Groß. The trio have seen some of their attributes reduced by several points. This means that all three have seen a reduction of -1 in their overall rating and potential.
The quintet is completed by Donyell Malen. In FC 25, he is given the same fate as the trio mentioned. However, the Dutchman will earn virtual upgrades at another club. Even before the kick-off of the encounter on Tuesday evening, BVB announced the Dutchman’s transfer to Aston Villa. Most of the time, Malen came off the bench this season.
Two bright spots in Dortmund’s shadow
At least there are also bright spots in FC 25. Both Karim Adeyemi and Jamie Gittens received positive ratings. For Gittens, many positive changes by the developer led to a new overall rating of 79. He previously had a 77. However, his potential remains unchanged.
Not so for Adeyemi. Both categories were adjusted by one point each. However, in contrast to Can, Sabitzer and Groß, the fast striker was given a boost. Incidentally, this is not the first time that EA SPORTS has reacted to a sporting crisis. A few weeks ago, the developer also made cuts to Manchester City after their winless streak.
