But map differences in Rocket League? Player makes discovery

Actually, the maps in Rocket League should be the same, at least in the classic and competitive online modes. A player now made a discovery and noticed differences in five game locations.

There are many different game locations in Rocket League. Sometimes on the land, deep down in the ocean or a very classic arena. But to make it easy for players, the maps in the classic and competitive online modes have one thing in common: according to developer Psyonix, they are standardised in terms of size and layout.

The advantage: You don’t always have to adapt to a new map because, for example, the walls are different heights. However, there are probably differences when it comes to the speed of the ball on the wall.

A player has now made a discovery in this regard. As “nytrosalad” wrote on Twitter, he noticed difficulties in reaching the ball at the corners in the maps Farmstead and Forbidden Temple. Without further ado, he decided to do a speed test.

Sometimes faster, sometimes slower ball

While most maps had the ball rolling off the wall at the same speed, Starbase Arc, Salty Shores, Neon Fields as well as Farmstead and Forbidden Temple deviated. On the latter, the ball was about four mph faster, on the others about 1.4 mph slower. The effect: the situation is harder to assess.

In a 3vs3, for example, the shooter is already lurking, but the passer cannot pinch into the middle as intended because the ball is in the wrong position. A chance to score thus quickly turns into a loss of the ball and possibly a goal against.

To have his impressions confirmed, he shared the scenarios via training kit. Senior Consultant Manager at Psyonix, Devin Connor, promptly spoke up on Twitter about the problem: “We’re looking into it and hope to adjust the level design, but we’re not sure.”

What is unclear, on the other hand, is what will happen to these five venues by then. Currently, they are still in their respective modes.
