Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta has won a Masters title on the ATP Tour for the first time in his tennis career. The 31-year-old defeated Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the final of the hard court event in Montreal.
In the deciding third set, Carreno Busta twice took the serve from Hurkacz. The win at the $6.6 million (€6.43 million) tournament in Montreal lifts Carreno Busta from 23rd to 14th in the world rankings. The Spaniard celebrated his seventh tournament win in his career.
