There was an incident before the game between FC Bayern Basketball and Anadolu Efes. Due to a burst pipe in the hall roof, it suddenly rained in the arena. Nevertheless, the game was able to start on time.
There is still no reliable information about the reason, presumably it was a burst pipe in the hall ceiling.
About an hour before the start, it suddenly began to rain, although it was dry outside the arena. The leak was directly above the players’ tunnel and also affected some spectator seats. Thanks to the hard-working helpers, the game was able to start on time, but the players only had about a quarter of an hour to warm up.
It continued to drizzle at this point during the game, and the corresponding seats were closed.
It suddenly started raining inside the arena right by the players’ tunnel at around 7:30 p.m. Club employees tried to remove the water with cleaning machines and vacuum cleaners, but the water rained down from the ceiling without stopping.
SAP Garden was not opened until September 2024, and Bayern played their first game in the new arena on October 3 against Real Madrid. Since then, all basketball games in the new arena have been sold out, with Munich losing only twice in 15 games (to Panathinaikos and Bologna).
