Bundesliga kick-off 2022 on 5 August

The DFB Presidium has approved the schedule for the 2022/23 season. The Bundesliga kicks off on 5 August 2022

The schedule for the 2022/23 season has been finalised, as announced by the DFB on Friday.  The approved plan provides for the ball to start rolling in the Bundesliga on 5 August 2022. The 2nd Bundesliga will kick off three weeks earlier on 15 July 2022, while the 3rd Liga will open its season on Friday, 22 July.

The special feature of 2022/23: The World Cup will be held in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022. This will result in a break of around two months in the winter.

“The last matchday of the Bundesliga (matchday 15) and the 2nd Bundesliga (matchday 17) in 2022 will be played from 11 to 13 November. After the World Cup and a subsequent winter break, the Bundesliga will resume play on 20 January 2023, while the 2nd Bundesliga will start on 27 January 2023,” the DFB announced.

The 34th and final matchday in 2022/23 in the Bundesliga will take place on Saturday, 27 May 2023. On 28 May 2023, the 34th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga will take place.

DFB Cup starts on 29 July – Supercup on 30 July

The first DFB Cup main round now also has its fixed date in 2022, with the 32 matches being played from 29 July to 1 August. The second round will be played on 18 and 19 October. The final is scheduled for 3 June 2023.

The Supercup between the current champions and DFB Cup winners is scheduled for 30 July, so the DFB Cup matches between the two Supercup participants will not take place until 30 and 31 August.

Bundesliga twice during the week

There will also be matches during the week: both the Bundesliga (8/9 November and 24/25 January) and the 2nd Bundesliga (8-10 November) will be in action outside the weekend.
