Mascha Ballhaus books her ticket for Paris with her first World Championship medal
German judoka Mascha Ballhaus has won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi and booked her ticket for the Olympic Games in Paris. The 23-year-old from TH Eilbeck won the small final of the 52 kg category against Japan’s Hibika Shiraishi at the start of the title fights on Sunday.
It is the first World Championship medal for the twin sister of former champion Seija Ballhaus, who has also never competed at the Summer Games
