The fears for Bronny James have come to an end for the time being. The son of basketball superstar LeBron James is back home after a cardiac arrest. It is unclear what the future holds for him athletically.
Good three days after his cardiac arrest, basketball talent Bronny James (18), son of NBA superstar LeBron James (38), has been released from hospital. The Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles made the announcement on Thursday and also released details. “Mr James was promptly attended to by highly trained staff and was able to be discharged home where he is now resting,” the hospital said.
Bronny James had suffered a cardiac arrest during a training session at the University of Southern California on Monday morning (local time). He was taken to hospital and was able to leave the intensive care unit after a short time. The 18-year-old reportedly had to undergo several medical tests to determine the cause of the cardiac arrest.
He was admitted to the medical centre fully conscious, neurologically intact and stable, the Cedars-Sinai statement said. “Thanks to the rapid and effective response of the medical staff at the university, Bronny James was successfully treated for sudden cardiac arrest,” the hospital said.
Shortly before, father LeBron James had spoken out publicly for the first time. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar thanked “countless people sending love and prayers to my family” via Twitter. He said everyone is doing well. “We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love.” The family had initially refrained from making public announcements.
Photos showed LeBron James entering Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where his son is being treated. Bryce James, LeBron James’ 16-year-old son, posted a picture of the two brothers in an Instagram story and captioned it with a heart.
Currently, it is unclear what impact the incident will have on his basketball career. “Although his treatment will be ongoing, we hope to see continued progress and are encouraged by his response, resilience and the support of his family and community,” Cedars-Sinai shared. LeBron James had repeatedly stated that he would not end his career until his son also made the jump to the NBA and they both played together.
