The Hamburg Towers have high hopes for their new signing Niklas Wimberg. But for the time being, the northern Germans will have to do without the national player
The Veolia Towers Hamburg will have to make do without German international Niklas Wimberg (28) for months. The top new signing from double winners FC Bayern suffered a leg fracture in last weekend’s test game against Löwen Braunschweig (83:48).
The fracture in the forward’s left leg was confirmed by an MRI scan on Monday. “It’s extremely frustrating for us that two long-term injuries have already overshadowed an otherwise very positive start to the pre-season,” said Managing Director of Sport Marvin Willoughby.
Grey is also out
Jared Grey (19) will also miss Hamburg for an extended period of time after breaking his left wrist. Wimberg moved from Munich to Hamburg after last season.
The North Germans start the new season on September 22 with a home game against Alba Berlin
