Bad news for Werder Bremen: Milos Veljkovichas been injured during the World Cup qualifier in Lisbon.
Serbia were in Lisbon on Sunday night in desperate need of a win to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar. National coach Dragan Stojkovic relied on the Bremen player in the front three – and the 26-year-old played decently, but could not finish the game in regulation.
During a running duel with Diogo Jota, Veljkovic cleared the ball but suffered a groin injury and had to be substituted a few minutes later. Uros Spajic came on for the Bremen player.
Those responsible at the Weser will now be waiting for news, as the loss of the centre-back would be painful for the Hanseatic League. Veljkovic has made eleven appearances for SVW this season, who face Schalke on Saturday.
