Ronaldo Nazario recovering from pneumonia

His tweet yesterday calmed down fears among the countless fans. The 41-year-old was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Can Misses Hospital, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia, at least according to local daily newspaper Diario de Ibiza. Several hours later, Ronaldo allegedly requested to be transferred to a private hospital named Clinica Nuestra Senora del Rosario.

The staff at the private hospital was contacted, but couldn’t provide updates due to privacy reasons. However, the latest reports say Ronaldo is progressing well in his recovery. The Brazilian is on Ibiza on holiday. He is a regular visitor to the island, where he owns a house and loves spending time with his friends and family.

Ronaldo dengue fever

This is not the first time Luis Nazario de Lima Ronaldo has made headlines with a hospital visit. Six years ago, the former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid star contracted the dengue fever (a mosquito-borne disease) while on Christmas holiday in Bahia, Brazil.

His tweet at the time read: “Damn mosquito”, and was followed up by a picture of him receiving IV treatment captioned:

“Good morning to you. Started the year with dengue!”

The Brazilian, widely regarded as one of the best football players ever, retired due to growing pain from all the injuries he suffered throughout his career. He also cited hypothyroidism as an issue, an illness which led him to exponentially gain weight after he hung up his boots.
