Braunschweig coach Schiele ahead of Würzburg return: “Have to be ready for anything”

Ahead of the game at Würzburg, Braunschweig make the trip to Bavaria as favourites. But Eintracht coach Schiele warns against his former club, against whom he already has solutions in mind.

“There was definitely more in it for us,” said Braunschweig coach Michael Schiele, summing up the somewhat surprising 1:2 home defeat against Wehen Wiesbaden , and explained: “We made a lot of mistakes that we simply have to put right.” Should we succeed in doing so, “then it will be a good game from us,” the former Würzburg coach is certain.

Return of the promotion coach

“I had my greatest successes as a coach there in my recent past, especially with promotion to the 2. Bundesliga.” He said he was looking forward to seeing many friends, but was not expecting a bouquet of flowers. After all, he has “met a lot of nice people here in Braunschweig and at Eintracht”, feels comfortable and, above all, has a task that they want to realise together. In Würzburg, the next step will be taken.

Offensive air supremacy by Pourié

It won’t be easy, however, according to the native of Heidenheim. “They have picked up seven points from three games under the new coach and have developed self-confidence as a result,” said Schiele, assessing the development of the upcoming opponents under Danny Schwarz. The Kickers are particularly dangerous in the air: “With Tobias Kraulich and Marvin Pourié, two players have recently scored in the same pattern. Kraulich after standard situations, Pourié was found in the box via the wings.” He added that strong wingers David Kopacz and Robert Herrmann also contributed to this, and that his defence had to pay particular attention to them alongside goal-scorer Pourié. “We have to be ready for anything,” Schiele demands of his team.

With returnees and calmness to success

By this he also means the two returnees Jomaine Consbruch and Danilo Wiebe, who both missed the last game with injuries. Both could return to the starting eleven against Würzburg, which Schiele could also systematically adjust compared to the preferred 4-2-3-1: “The approach with two strikers at the weekend gave us chances. The approach with actions out of the three-man box has had an effect. We pressed, but unfortunately didn’t score the second goal. We still have to become calmer.

Calm down and stop making mistakes – that is Schiele’s motto: “We have solutions in mind. And he will need them. Because – despite all the friendly memories – one thing is clear for the Braunschweig coach: “We want to come home with something countable. “
