The Telekom Baskets Bonn have to let go another key player from last season, in which the Rhinelanders won the Champions League and were runners-up.
After a strong 2022/23 season, which was crowned by winning the Champions League, but then suffered a late setback with the loss in the BBL final against ratiopharm Ulm, the Telekom Baskets Bonn are losing another key player. US professional Javontae Hawkins (29) is moving on, as the Rhinelanders announced on Wednesday.
Hawkins is now the 13th player to leave the Telekom Baskets after the most successful season in the club’s history. Previously, league MVP T.J. Shorts, Sebastian Herrera, Michael Kessens, Leon Kratzer, Collin Malcolm and Tyson Ward, among others, had moved to Paris Basket together with coach Tuomas Iisalo. Veteran Karsten Tadda moved back to Bamberg, from where national player Chris Sengfelder moved to Bonn.
US guard comes from Lithuania
Meanwhile, the Bonn team brought in US-American Glynn Watson as the last professional for the guard rotation. The 26-year-old comes from Lithuanian semi-finalist CBet Jonava and signs a one-year contract
