FC Bayern has secured the services of Sacha Boey from Galatasaray Istanbul. The Frenchman has signed a contract with the Munich club until 2028
The courtship of Kieran Trippier from Newcastle United was in vain, but the need in Bayern’s defense has increased after Dayot Upamecano and Konrad Laimer were injured in the replay against Union Berlin (1:0), South Korean Min-Jae Kim is at the Asian Cup and Moroccan Noussair Mazraoui is at the Africa Cup. The 23-year-old defender is moving from Galatasaray Istanbul to FC Bayern and has signed a contract until the summer of 2028. “Sacha Boey is a very quick and physically strong right-back who covers a lot of kilometers in every game and doesn’t shy away from a duel,” says Christoph Freund, FC Bayern’s sporting director: “He was an absolute crowd favourite at Galatasaray Istanbul, has developed very well over the years, has Champions League experience and won the league with Galatasaray last season. “
Two friendly matches round off the transfer terms
Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of FC Bayern, said: “We have not only strengthened our squad in terms of depth, but also in terms of quality.” According to the Istanbul club’s official announcement, the Frenchman will cost 30 million euros, to which five million euros can be added in bonuses. The Turkish former club would also be financially involved in a resale – and two test matches between the clubs have also been agreed. Galatasaray will receive 50 percent of the proceeds.
Boey, who played all six games for the Turks over the full distance in the Champions League group stage, winning 48 balls in the process (only one defender, Achraf Hakimi, had one more) and putting in a decent performance in both games against FCB, was no longer in the squad for Thursday’s league game against Istanbulspor (3:1).

81 competitive matches for Galatasaray
Boey arrived in Istanbul in the summer of 2021 after 24 games for Dijon FCO in Ligue 1 and has played 81 competitive games for Galatasaray, six of them in the top flight.
“Of course, as a coach, I’m not necessarily in favor of Sacha leaving,” Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk, who is losing one of his key players, said beforehand: “But if the conditions and a significant sum of money arise regarding the future of the club, then we have our president and a board of directors who will evaluate it.” They have assessed it: Boey will wear the Bayern jersey in the future.
