After three games had to be cancelled, only the match Hamburg against Ulm took place on Saturday evening in the BBL. In a close game, ratiopharm narrowly retained the upper hand.
The first half was back and forth, with both teams dominated by their offensive lines. Hamburg scored 50 points in the first 20 minutes, but were only one ahead as Ulm also found a good rhythm offensively.
In the third quarter, the guests increased their defensive intensity and allowed only 13 points. With Semaj Christon and Jaron Blossomgame leading the way offensively, ratiopharm had pulled away slightly before the final ten minutes (73:63).
There was no thought of giving up for the Towers. Spurred on by their own fans, they came back – and were suddenly leading 77-76 with just under six minutes to go. The hosts were now on top and close to victory. But it was not enough, because Ulm kept the upper hand in the final phase. Blossomgame’s basket to make it 91-90 with ten seconds left meant victory as Caleb Hamesley then missed his three-pointer. It was Ulm’s fifth win in a row in the competition.
